Last week, we teamed up with Kid Pizza to throw a colorful, joyful, and pizza-filled night to celebrate 5 years of coolstuff.nyc!!! We wanted to take a beat to say thank you to all of the people who have helped us to build this little slice of New York – from supportive pals, to coolstuff.nyc cool friends, and the many brand & marketing folks that help put the coolest things on our radar. A special thanks to Kid Pizza, Cristobal Velasquez Photography, Everybody’s Type, Threes Brewing, Vistaprint, Lapo’s, Nomadica, United Sodas, Levain, Salt & Straw, and Primis Imports for helping to make this night a reality!

Our setting for the evening was the unforgettable private dining room at Kid Pizza. Located just below the main restaurant, the private dining room is filled with glossy, colorful panels, a rear skylight, a bright orange private bar and, crucially, an independent sound system to blast a fantastic playlist by the inimitable Holly Carter. While the space can be filled with tables for a seated affair, we opted to keep things casual by removing them and packing the space with the coolest people we know.
The night kicked off with a passed apps from Kid, including mini mozzarella sticks, gildas, meatballs, and garlic bread. Later, as pizzas began to hit the room, slices disappeared as quickly as they came out of the kitchen (as did a bit of Primi’s Imports’ spicy pizza oil!)
We had tons of bevvy options including wines from Nomadica, beer from Threes Brewing, the best non-alcoholic negroni from Lapo’s, and sodas from United Sodas.
As the party was still bumping, trays of ice cold Salt & Straw mini ice creams were passed around while a table packed full of Levain’s iconic cookies was ready for grabbing all night long.
A night of yap & chill is our ideal party, but of course having an activation makes sure there’s something fun for everyone. Carly Cassidy of Everybody’s Type set up shop creating custom typewriter poems inspired by a favorite NYC memory of the recipient. Crisobal Velasquez photography captured the joy of the evening on camera so we could share the fun with the world!
What’s a coolstuff event without fun little takeaways? This time we think we outdid ourselves…searching the absolute edges of Vistaprint to create our custom momentos. Around the space we scattered bowls of matchbooks, stickers, and heart-shaped keychains…but that’s not all: custom pens were created to fill out postcards with a crossword puzzle, and perhaps our greatest piece of all was a pink and red striped deck of coolstuff playing cards.
We’d be remiss to not thank you, our readers, for giving us the best reason to discover and share all the coolest places in NYC. Thank you for being along for our ride the last 5 years – here’s to five more!
