Meet Megan, founder of heirloom jewelry brand, AARYAH. Coming from a long line of jewelers, we love that Megan has carved out a space and vision for herself in a world that she didn’t initially think she would join. We caught up with Megan to hear all about her inspiration and how what started as a passion project became her full-time career.

How did your career in jewelry design begin?

My career in jewelry really began with my own love story and my lifelong love of jewelry.

I also grew up surrounded by jewelry, as my family has been in the trade for generations, but as a rebellious 20-year-old I wanted to carve my own path and initially started my career in the beauty industry.

In my late 20s, I found my way back to jewelry and launched AARYAH as a passion project — a costume jewelry brand inspired by Indian tribal designs but it wasn’t until the pandemic, friends and friends-of-friends started asking me to help them make engagement rings. I designed one truly unique ring to see if people would be open to something different, and that piece went viral. That’s when I realized there was a gap in the market for bold, unconventional, natural diamond engagement rings and that’s when AARYAH, as it exists today, was truly born.

Tell us about your fine jewelry brand, AARYAH!

AARYAH is a fine jewelry brand that honors tradition while boldly breaking convention. Our pieces feature natural earth-mined diamonds in unconventional cuts, unique settings, and bold, modern silhouettes. We create jewelry for people who want pieces that feel personal, powerful, and truly one-of-a-kind….pieces that tell a story and become modern heirlooms. Every piece is crafted in New York City with the highest level of craftsmanship, and we specialize in sourcing stones you rarely see at the retail level, each chosen for its character and individuality.

You can shop AARYAH at our NYC showroom, at Bergdorf Goodman and now our newest retailer Goop!

What’s your favorite part about the New York jeweler community?

The New York jeweler community is soo eclectic. There’s so much talent, history, and passion concentrated in literally two streets (47th & 48th street). Even though it’s large, it also feels small because so much of the industry is made up of family-run businesses, which is rare in today’s world. It’s incredibly multicultural, and at times it genuinely feels like I’m working with family. It’s a unique blend of old-world tradition and new-age creativity, and that mix inspires me every single day.

We love how your pieces are known for their unconventional cuts, unique settings, and rare natural diamonds, what do you look for when you’re choosing new stones for your pieces?

I always start with character. I’m drawn to stones that have a soul whether it’s a warm hue, an unusual shape, or a facet pattern that feels truly one-of-a-kind. If a stone gives me a visceral reaction (like WOOOOW) , I know it’s special. I look for diamonds and gemstones that stop you in your tracks, stones that feel like they could only belong to one person the person who ends up wearing it.

Tell us about how being born into a family of Indian jewelers informs AARYAH’s designs.

Being born into a family of Indian jewelers has shaped my perspective in a profound way. I grew up surrounded by jewelry as a form of personal expression and tradition… pieces were always connected to milestones, rituals, and celebrations. That sense of meaning and reverence for craftsmanship is something I carry into every AARYAH design. My Indian heritage also inspires me to explore bold silhouettes and rich textures, creating jewelry that feels both powerful and feminine.
